Auditorium:  

 Our Library Auditorium is the most prestigious Auditorium of Chennai. This fully Air Conditioned Auditorium is an elegant structure with aesthetically designed Public Areas, Main Hall, Green Rooms, etc.

 The Auditorium stage is ideal for demanding theatrical performances. To enable quick change of scenes and sets as well as elobarate lighting design.

The Auditorium has excellent acoustics. It is furthermore equipped with a professional quality sound system, Sound craft Mixer. Auditorium also has its own sophisticated stage lighting with a large variety of professional lights.

Auditorium has an elaborate CCTV system. Auditorium can accommodate 1100 people. A projector with latest technology is available in the auditorium to screen the movie, other than main projector 2 LCD projectors with separate screens are available at main auditorium hall. It has surround sound system and very good lighting facility to conduct any type of programme.





Amphitheatre


The crescent shaped amphitheater with a seating capacity of more than 800 people available at our library. It is equipped with world-class acoustics and a state-of-the-art lighting system.

The stage is a versatile option for product launches, celebrity gatherings, corporate events, and entertainment spectacles. a rehearsal room and green rooms contain complete support facilities.


Conference Hall:







Simple elegance and modern design make the  Conference Hall a premier site of events that require a higher standard of refinement. Its spacious capacity accommodates up to 151 people for Conference and Seminar. Flexible equipment and furnishings can be customized to meet the needs of any event, whether it is a conference, seminar or any presentation, or business meeting. It has LCD projector and LCD Panel for presentation.
Book Release Hall: 

This fully Air Conditioned Book Release Hall suitable for Book Release and small meeting. This hall can accomodate 120 persons at a time. 

Vehicle Parking:

Spacious two wheeler, car parking facility of accommodating 417 cars and 1026 two wheeler at any time.

For Differently abled persons:



Ramp & Wheel Chair facility and separate rest rooms are available for them.





Own Books Reading Sections:

Own books reading sections located in Ground floor and First Floor. In this area, users can bring their own books and study in a good atmosphere.


Digital Library:

Collections are stored in digital form and able to access through computer. More than 2 lakhs e-Books 20,000 e-Journals will be available.

Food Court:
Our library offer healthy and hygienic refreshment facilities.Whole range of food and beverage options available in Food Court.

 Aavin Parlour 
Our Library in arrangement with Aavin has started a ‘Parlour’ to provide quality milk and milk products including ice cream for the benefit of users.

Braille Section



Braille Section is located at Ground Floor, special care is taken to facilitate Braille readers in this section. This section has 1500 printed Braille books, 145 e-books and 1080 Audio Books


Braille Reader:

The section is equipped with Braille Refresh-able Display Readers. An entire book in Tamil, or any other Indian Language and English can be stored and indexed in the Braille Reader. The visually challenged can select a book of any language, stored in the Braille Reader and read line by line and page by page. The navigation controls are in Braille format which can be operated and navigated with ease. Each Readers can store 1000 books of 300 pages on an average.


Braille Conversion :

The section has Software tools that convert text composed in Tamil, English or any other Indian Languages in to Braille text for visually challenged readers.


Braille Embossing :
The section has Double sided Embosser that embosses Braille texts. The Embosser has lots of handy features that enables printing of Braille Book resources and information faster and easier at economic cost.

Software Tools :

Visually challenged are given access to Computers installed with assisstive software tools that help in:


• Operating computers with voice commands
• Text to Voice file conversion
• Daisy formatted books reading
• Easy search and find facility
• Reading audio book and reference texts


Own Book Reading Section


 
This section located at ground floor. It is a boon to the users who are searching for spacious, cool and calm reading environment in the city. The readers have the liberty to carry their personal notebooks, textbooks, learning materials and laptops. It has comfortable furniture for readers.



Children Section


 
Children Section is located in the first floor ' B wing ' it spreads over 15,000 sq. ft. It has over 60,000 books which cover all subject areas. This section has a very good collection of books ranges from Alphabets, Numerals to Children Encyclopedias.
Majority of books are in English and it has books in different Indian and foreign languages (Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi, German, French, Spanish and Italian).
Any children who are at the age between 4 years and 14 years can access this section.


Special Features of Children Section:

* Artificial tree with a fun-filled theme based reading area.

* Activity area with performance stage to encourage and motivate children’s reading habit and cultivating culture with the help of activities like story telling , puppet shows, magic shows,etc.,

* 22 computer terminals to access Multimedia

* Cartoon pictures are mounted on the wall to make children happy.


Periodicals Section 


Periodicals section is located in the ‘A’ Wing of first floor. Newspapers and Magazines and Journals are kept in this section.

All leading newspapers and magazines are available in this section for readers. At present we are subscribing 30 plus leading dailies in different languages. We have subscribed over 300 plus Indian and Foreign Magazines in all categories to serve user needs. There is an exclusive section for women readers which comprises magazines focused on women


Tamil Section


 
Second Floor of this library is dedicated to “Classical Language (Semmozhi)” Tamil. In this section we have almost all the books published in Tamil available in print. Readers who are fond of reading Tamil books can see the huge collections of Tamil books from all leading publishers. Over 1,00,000 books in the form of Novels, Poems, Short Stories, Drama, Essays, Humor, letters, biographies on following headings;

ABOUT US

The Anna Centenary Library (ACL), a state-of the-art library was inaugurated on September 15, 2010 on the occasion of the 102nd birth anniversary of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Dr. C N Annadurai popularly called ‘ANNA’. By reason of his great interest towards the books and library, this library is named as ‘Anna Centenary Library’. The foundation stone laid on August 16, 2008, completed in a short span and declared open to the public from 20th September 2010.

The built up area of this centralized air-conditioned library is 3.75 lakh sq. ft., encompasses ground and eight floors. At present, it hosts five lakhs books covering wide range of subjects to serve the information needs of the public, academic and corporate community. Our Library has a Braille Section, Own Books Reading Section, Children Section, Periodicals and Newspapers Section, Tamil books Section, English Books Section and Digital Library. In addition, the library has a Conference Hall that can facilitate 150 members.
